Trump donates first 3 months of salary to Park Service

President Donald Trump has donated the first three months of his presidential salary to the National Park Service, ABC News reports.

During Monday’s briefing, White House press secretary Sean Spicer handed over a check for $78,333.32 to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.

New York businessman President Trump had previously had promised to donate his presidential salary.

U.S. law states that the president of the United States must receive a salary, President Trump has decided he will donate his entire presidential salary.

U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said that he is “thrilled” at President Trump’s decision to donate his salary, noting that Trump had informed him regarding the donation Sunday evening, ABC News reports.

Zinke said the proceeds would be used to help long-deferred maintenance projects on 25 battlefields within the United States.
