Shocking video footage released shows a Colorado law enforcement officer slamming a twenty-two-year-old sorority girl to the ground as he arrests her outside a bar, claiming the girl had ‘assaulted’ one of the officers, the Daily Mail reported.
Twenty-two-year-old Michaella Surat was body slammed to the ground outside the Bondi Beach Bar in Fort Collins, Colorado, Thursday evening after she allegedly assaulted one of the police officers.
Authorities responded to the bar after receiving reports of a fight involving the Colorado State University student’s boyfriend, the Daily Mail reports. She was involved in the situation after she attempted to pull her boyfriend away from the scene.
A witness to the incident video recorded the moment twenty-two-year-old Surat was slammed to the ground by one of the law enforcement officers.
According to The Coloradoan, the Fort Collins Police Department is standing behind the officer’s actions toward the woman, claiming it was standard procedure for a suspect that had been accused of assaulting a law enforcement officer.
“She remained at the scene, at which time she physically obstructed and struck an officer,” a spokesman told The Coloradoan. Surat was arrested and taken to the Larimer County Jail, charged with third-degree assault and obstructing a peace officer.
