Having defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7, the Houston Astros reached the top of the Major League Baseball world with their first World Series championship in the franchise’s history.
A parade is now scheduled on Friday, November 3rd at 2 p.m. for the new world champions of professional baseball. Fox News reports the event will be held at Houston City Hall and will include Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Astros owner Jim Crane.
“I always believed that we could make it,” All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve said to reporters. “We did this for them.”
“If you want to humanize baseball, look at that story. And it will show you what these guys go through daily in their personal lives that leads to the professional lives,” Houston manager A.J. Hinch said to reporters. “And on top of that I think we were able to really keep in perspective what was going on in Houston.”
