The latest release of text messages between FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page reveal an exchange regarding preparing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to then-President Obama who wanted “know everything we’re doing.”
That text message was sent from Lisa Page to Peter Strozk, and was among thousands of text messages between the two that have recently been released in a new Senate report, Fox News reports.
Both Peter Strozk and Lisa Page worked for a short time on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of alleged collusion between the Russian government and members of the Trump presidential campaign.
Lisa Page sent Strozk a text message on September 2, 2016, regarding prepping then-FBI Director James Comey because “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.”
The new batch of text messages between the pair was released via a U.S. Senate report that raised questions regarding President Obama’s personal involvement into the FBI’s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
Another text message Strozk sent to Page on September 28, 2016, states: “Got called up to Andy’s earlier…hundreds of thousands of emails turned over by Weiner’s atty to sdny includes a ton of material from spouse. Sending team up tomorrow to review…this will never end.”
According to the Senate’s report, the text message raises questions regarding when FBI officials had learned of emails relevant to the Hillary Clinton email investigation on the laptop belonging to former disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner.
A month after the text message was sent, then-FBI director James Comey informed Congress that, “Due to recent developments,” the FBI was re-launching the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation,” Comey said at the time. “I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday.”
