Democrats earned another seat in the U.S. House of Representatives on Saturday after Gil Cisneros picked up the victory in Southern California. The party has picked up a total of six congressional seats in the state.
Cisneros defeated Republican Young Kim for the state’s 39th District seat in what had been the last undecided House race in California since the election on November 6th, the Associated Press reports.
The forty-seven-year-old Cisneros is a $266 million lottery jackpot winner and described his interest in running for Congress as an extension of his time in the military, saying it was all about public service.
