Update: One Marine rescued, 6 missing after planes crash off Japan

According to reports, six U.S. Marines are missing after their plane crashed off Japan during mid-air refueling, one Marine was rescued.

On Wednesday, search and rescue operations began after two U.S. Marine Corps aircraft’s crashed while mid-air refueling during a regularly scheduled training exercise off the coast of Japan.

According to the Marine Corps, a KC-130 and an F/A-18 Hornet, took off from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni in southern Japan.

In a released statement, the Marines said the Japanese are assisting in the search and rescue operations and added that the incident was under investigation.
